Prepare to have your mind blown….I mean BLOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Prepare for….SNOW ICE CREAM. What is this you ask? I asked the same darn question when I heard those words, Snow Ice Cream. I was with a friend and she told me that she made snow ice cream the other day and it was so good! I was like…”what is this magical thing you speak of????” She said…”well, it’s basically snow and sweetened condensed milk…and it’s so good!”
Over here in the Tri Cities, we are having Snowpocolipse 16/17 and I’ve never lived in a place with so much snow. Technically, we live in a desert, so all this precipitation is not super common, but it has been fun! We’ve been day sledding, night sledding, evening sledding, made snowmen, forts, my son did the old polar bear-jump-in-the-snow-after-going-in-the-hot-tub thing last night and today…we made snow ice cream. It will forever be a new snow day tradition. If the kids are home from school for a snow day….we will be making this. And you should too. Its quick, easy, the kids do all the work, and you will be the most popular momma on the planet!
This recipe is so stinking easy that if you blink, you might just miss it! Pay really close attention…you don’t want to miss this one!
Snow Ice Cream Recipe
What you need:
10-15 cups of clean, fresh fluffy ice cream
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 tsp vanilla
2-4 tbsp milk (or enough to help the ice cream come together)
What to do:
Send you kiddos out in the snow to gather the cleanest, freshest snow they can find. I sent mine out with my Kitchen Aid Mixer bowl and a 1 cup measuring cup.
Gather 10 cups of snow in your bowl. Have your kiddos open the can of sweetened condensed milk and pour it over the snow.
Add your vanilla and turn your mixer on low. At first it will look like this.
Allow to mix for about 2 minutes. Add 1 tbsp milk at a time to help it come together.
When it looks like ice cream…you are done!!
How stinking easy is that? And you might just think something that easy won’t taste very good. WRONG! My kids and husband thought it was better than the ice cream you buy at the store, so I figure that its pretty good!
Personally, I’ve been cutting out sugar from my life for the last week and I’ve been doing really good…so I made myself a sugar-free version that I will also be sharing really soon! I thought that version was incredible!
Have you ever made snow ice cream? I would love to hear your version!
