In our family, birthdays are important. Its something that my mom instilled in my growing up…she always celebrated our birthdays with a bang…as long as I can remember. Its just a fun way to celebrate someone’s life! I am thankful for all the fun parties I had growing up and wanted to keep that tradition alive with my kiddos!
My daughter had her Golden birthday this year (she turned 12 on the 12th) and she also wanted to have a “GOLDEN Birthday Party!” She wasn’t kidding! We started planning early and made some fun DIY decorations for her party…and when I say we, I actually mean she. My daughter is an amazing crafter and has been joining in on my crafting nights since she was about 3 years old…so when she wanted to go all DIY crazy for her party…I decided that she could do most of the crafting!
My daughter even made her very own cake for her party! I love that she has the crafting gene too!
My daughter also made ALL of the glittered cake stands for her party! We used thrifted plates and platters and epoxied them to candle holders and cups. She spray painted them and added glitter as needed! I love how they turned out. Its always fun to mix and match a color scheme!
For our table, we made gold dipped fleathers, glittered silverware and glittered goblets from the dollar store! So fun!
We found these darling plates at one of my favorite stores: Hobby Lobby! I can’t even tell you how much I just love that store! They were a perfect choice for our mint, pink and gold theme! We found the gold chargers at the local thrift store for 1 dollar a piece! I was pretty excited about that, they were a perfect fit for our golden table scape!
I know I’ve been bragging on my daughter’s talents a lot..but she also made ALL of the cake pops…by herself! She loves doing it…and as an empowering parent…of course I said…do it girl! You don’t need my help!
