Sometimes I just get a hankering to make stuff. I like it. For some reason, it just soothes my soul. Its even better when it adds fun and beauty to my world.
I have an issue with losing stuff, especially my earrings. Namely one of each set of earrings. Luckily I usually pick them up at target on the clearance rack, so its not too big of a deal, but I do wear earrings and a necklace every day…just about. Its a little trick my stylist friend taught me.,.to help me feel pulled together when I didn’t have alot of time! Anywho….I will wear them, lose them, buy them, lose them, and so on! Yesterday I decided that the madness had to stop! Plus…I’ve been seeing all these darling Jewelry holders on Pinterest…and I wanted one!
I decided to scrounge around my deliriously full garage and see if I could come up with the stuff I needed to put one together. I say this because I think you could make this jewelry holder with scraps of wood laying around your house too! 😉
Needed for this DIY Jewelry Holder Project:
Drill & screws or Hammer & Nails
2 Equal pieces of scrap pallet wood
2 pieces of 1 inch x 6 inch wood
Vinyl Letters for whatever word you would like to use
Paint
Hooks for hanging
Instructions:
Line up your 2 pieces of wood, decide what side will be the front. Screw or hammer 1 x 6 inch pieces vertically on the back, 2 inches from the side edges to hold together.
Turn over and place lettering on wood and press down hard (you can see that i didn’t so this step very well..but I didn’t care that it was a little messy!
Paint the wood and allow to dry.
Once the paint is dry, remove the lettering….you could fix any lettering mishaps at this point by painting over with another color of paint.
Mark 1.5 inches apart around the front and nail small nails on each mark.
Add your hooks to the top of the jewelry holder.
Attach to wall!
Enjoy your new project!
This project took me about 1 hr total.
