I woke up the other day and all though the forecast called for 90 degrees in the afternoon, the morning was very crisp. It felt like fall. I am enjoying having the crisp mornings, its a little easier to savor a cup of morning coffee when its 63 degrees, not 85 when I get out of bed.
Now that its finally September, I drug out all my box of fall decorations that I’ve gathered over the years (of course my husband thinks its so silly that I like to decorate the front porch) but I think its fun. I’ve gathered items from the dollar store, various thrift stores and picked up a few things from the dollar aisle at Target, and even did a few DIY tin cans for pops of color! I haven’t photographed this year’s front porch yet, but I wanted to share last year’s with you…I will share this years in a few days!
The wreath was my favorite thrift store find! It was just a bunch of leaves on vines (4 in a bag for $1.99) and I attached them in a circle with floral tape….Duct taped it to my door! Its super light and was so easy to throw together!
One of my favorite DIY projects is a Tin Can + Yarn. All you need to do is save some tin cans ( I do this when making one of my favorite salsa’s). I wanted incorporate Turquoise, Orange and Yellow into my front porch, because I’m more of a cool tone kind of person, so it had to have some blue in it. Its so easy!!
DIY Yarn Covered Tin Cans
Tin Cans
Various Yarns
Glue Gun & Glue
Fresh or fake Flowers
All you need to do is put a tiny dot of glue on the can, start wrapping with yarn and hold it on with another little dab of glue. Hold tightly till hardened. I wrapped some of them really tightly to cover all of the can and others I was a little more in a hurry with and I liked those even more. I grabbed some fake mums at the dollar store and tossed them in. (then if the wind catches them, I don’t have to be too sad!).
