When we found out we were having a baby after 9 years (our other kiddos were 12 & 9 at the time!) and a huge lifestyle and income change (let’s just say that our income at the time was less than half of what it was), we were looking for some real concrete ways to save money while shopping for our baby. Like having a baby on a budget is even possible. Well it is! There are real ways to save dollars here and there and then those dollars really add up! If you saved $50-$100 a month, that is really money!
We had so many things to get for our coming baby- like everything. I had, of course, given every baby toy, product and necessity away over the last 9 years. I had kept a few items of keepsake clothing, but we were pretty darn convinced we would never have another baby….until a few years ago.
By design, I’m a pretty thrifty person. I love running to goodwill or other thrift stores to find cute, new-to-me baby clothes! I love hand me downs and I will take it all! I actually only purchased 1 outfit for my newest baby before he was born! I received so much from friends and family! I am still in awe!
I thought I would share some of my favorite ways to save money with a new baby!
Saving Money With A Baby
Register for your baby at Amazon!
Did you even know that Amazon had a baby registry? It is super simple! Sign up here and you can get tons of perks!
Subscribe to a diapers and get 20% off your diapers (AND they get delivered to your house!)
Fill up your registry and get a welcome box with $35 worth of items for free!
Send your registry list to friends and family!
Register your Baby at Target and get a RedCard!
I have gotten so many deals at Target by using my Redcard. If you aren’t familiar with the Redcard, they have a credit and a debit card version. I use the debit card version and it saves us 5% EVERYTIME I shop with it and the money comes directly out of my bank account, just as if I had used my own bank debit card.
The benefit for Target is that they can track your purchases in exchange for 5% off, plus other benefits. I’ve gotten $25 gift cards, if I bought $100 worth of baby items. It was really easy to do that since diapers and formula cost an arm and a leg! Talk about saving money while shopping for your baby! Seriously this the kind of baby budget I like! Then I can stroll through the cosmetic or clothing aisle, purchase a $25 item for myself and not feel the least bit guilty! And YES, you can use coupons with your Target Redcard!
