One of my new favorite things about fall is all of the fun fall flavors to bake with, like apple, pumpkin, cinnamon and nutmeg! There are so many different combinations you can make with these. Really the combinations are endless! I’ve been making Fruit Crisp for a while, but this time I thought I might try Pie + Cake + Crumble = Apple Pie Cake with a Crumble Topping! Let’s just say my family (including a picky 12-year-old eater) approved of this one! I think I will be making this one for a while. This is a perfect recipe to bring to a special Thanksgiving dinner or even just a summer picnic! It so easy to throw together!
I headed over to Walmart to pick up all my supplies! I decided to use Mott’s® Applesauce instead of vegetable oil that I would normally use for my cake mix. I like that it cuts down on some calories while not missing the oil at all! It’s also a way to sneak in some more vitamins into a dessert…my kids will never know!!
What you need:
1st Layer of Cake:
1 Box Yellow Cake Mix
1/3 Cup Mott’s® Original Applesauce (instead of oil)
1 1/3 Cup Water
3 Eggs
1 tsp. Cinnamon
Mix
Filling
2 Cans Apple Pie Filling
Crumble Topping
2 Cubes melted butter
2 cups brown sugar
1 cup flour
1 Cup Old Fashioned Oatmeal
2 tsp cinnamon
How to Make Apple Pie Cake With Crumble Topping
Pour yellow cake mix, Mott’s® Applesauce, water, eggs and cinnamon into stand up mixer bowl. Mix for 30 seconds, scrape down sides, then mix for 2 minutes. Pour into 9 x 13 greased cake pan.
Open the cans of apple pie filling and evenly space filling around on top of the cake batter. Don’t worry if the apples sink down into the batter! This helps to make it yummy and gooey!
In a large bowl, add butter, brown sugar, flour and cinnamon. Stir to come together. It should be crumbly! Sprinkle over the cake batter and apples evenly.
Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until done.

Another thing I love when having a dinner party or holiday event is having a fun tablescape! For this fun Fall Tablescape used a few standard items that you can find at your local store.
Fall Wood & Burlap Tablescape
White Table Cloth
Burlap with lace Table Runner
Pine cones (I live in a place where these are hard to come by outside, so I purchase a bag! If you can find them outside…collect them, let them dry out and use them! Save yourself some money!)
Wood slices (again, if you can find a small tree or large branch and you have a saw, you can make these yourself and save yourself some MORE money! )
Wood Plate Chargers
White plates
Burlap and Yarn Wrapped Mason Jar Candles
Woodland Animals, acorns, apples and whatever else you want to throw in!
It’s super easy to create a Fall Woodland Tablescape…gather all of your supplies and create some layers! Start with the larger and main items, then fill in with the smaller items! Its pretty simple if you do it this way!
First, put on your white tablecloth, then your burlap and lace runner. Add your wood chargers and layer on a bowl or wood container for the main centerpiece. Put it in the very middle.
Add a few more wood slices or smaller chargers and start to place your larger items (candles or animals), then fill in with small wood slices and pine cones.
Do you like to bake in the fall? What are some of your favorite fall dessert recipes? I would love to hear more about them! Use Mott’s® Applesauce from Walmart instead of vegetable oil!
